Representatives from BRIESE SCHIFFAHRT PHILIPPINES INC. visited the Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) today, May 2, 2024. Among those who arrived at the Office of the President were Ms. Josephine Evangelio, President of the Company; Ms. Esmeralda Santos, Vice President; Chief Mate Jill Colango; 3rd Officer John Dominic Lorica; and Chief Engineer Jeneses Lariba, an esteemed graduate of our maritime program here at PIT.

BRIESE SCHIFFAHRT PHILIPPINES INC (formerly Heavylift Manila, Inc.) is a crewing agency that has been the home of Filipino seafarers specializing in heavy lift operation.

The purpose of the visit is to discuss their interest in supporting the PIT through their company’s Cadetship Placement Program. They believe that students from PIT Maritime programs undergo exceptional training and education. The initial talk was filled with insightful discussions and meaningful interactions, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the company and the school. This visit is also significant to our aspiring seafarers as it will assist them in molding their careers.

Present to welcome the visitors were Dr. Norberto C. Olavides, the College President, along with Dr. Gregorio S. Ochavillo, VP for Academic Affairs and Engr. Michael John O. Diansay, the Dean of the College of Maritime Education (COMED). Also in attendance were the Program Chairs, Mate Roy Cristopher A. Devota, Engr. Maria Cresencia G. Ruña, and the OBT, Miss Daisy Mhar Q. Pitoy.
