The Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) received an Institutional Membership plaque from the Federation of Institutions for Marine and Freshwater Sciences (FIMFS) on December 7, 2023, at MSU TCTO, Tawi-Tawi, Philippines, during the 55th FIMFS Convention.
The federation consists of both public and private higher education institutions in the Philippines dedicated to marine and freshwater sciences. It aims to foster closer partnerships among its institutional and individual members. This membership follows our institution's active participation in school conventions for three consecutive years. The convention serves as a venue for exchange and updating of research outputs, as well as a platform for mentoring aspiring young scientists.
We would also extend our gratitude to Mrs. Madelyn B. Ginco, who is instrumental in securing this Institutional Membership to PIT, for her devoted commitment to marine life. She also handed over the plaque to the Office of the President, today, April 29, 2024, where Dr. Gregorio S. Ochavillo, VP for Academic Affairs, accepted it on behalf of the College President.
It can be noted that PIT has become a member of FIMFS since 2021 as per approval by its Governing Board. Mr. Jason Tuang-tuang, former PIT Marine Biology Faculty Researcher, paved the way for PIT’s Institutional Membership.
